Canada has now announced it’s own legislation project to protect citizens from Spam. The Electronic Commerce Protection Act, or Bill C-27 has been announced with possible penalties of up to $10 million for spammers. A few months after the launch of the National Do Not Call List to regulate the telemarketing industry, this recent proposed Anti-Spam legislation will attempt to do something similar for the world of Canadian email marketing. Let’s say you haven’t sent any email to your subscribers for a while – about 6 months – and you have now decided to start a weekly newsletter in order to share your coveted knowledge, making your subscribers very happy.
